One of my favorite things to do is see live music. Music has always been a part of life. One of my earliest memories is my uncle playing guitar and singing “Rocky Top” at my grandmother’s house. I have started playing again recently and since I’ve been playing bluegrass, I’ve been going to a lot of bluegrass shows. Lately, one of my favorite bands has been 49 Special.
The have a very tight sound. They are right on top of the beat and play primarily original tunes. My favorite song in their set is always “Highway 1″ Danny Booth’s lyrics combine with the fiddle styling of Alisa Rose to create a longing sound that smacks of Irish influence. It makes day dream about calling in sick and chasing the horizon all the down the coast.
Anyone who can appreciate good music is sure to enjoy 49 Special. However, if you’re a bluegrass fan, it would be a crime to miss them.
