What muses you?

beer
Every writer needs their muse. I know I need mine.

The Greeks had very specific ideas about what a muse was. I would like to think that over the centuries, the muses have expanded their ranks beyond the nine those Greek originally limited them to. I think each writer needs to find what inspires them personally. That we all need to find our own muse. We need something we can fall back on when blocked. We need something to inspire us late at night when they feel the need to stay up and keep churning on. I suspect by now it is no secret what my favorite muse is. I’ll say it if I have to. It’s beer. I love beer. I love so much about it. Golden, yellow, amber or black. I love beer. It can loosen the pen, lubricate the tongue and smooth the causeways of ideas and inspiration. Every time I hook my heel on a rail, one of two things happens; sometimes both. I am either struck with epiphany, or I strike up a conversation with another patron of the magical elixir known as beer. It really gets my creative, and coversative, juices flowing. In fact, tonight beer was the sole source for yet another dreaded short story, which will be posted when it’s done. When I get my writing samples page together you’ll have a lot to sneer at.

In the meantime, whether you’re a writer or not, grab a beer and saddle up next to someone. You never know where you where your next story is going to come from.

On a couple side notes, I think I am starting to get the hang of the cell phone camera. Second, let me know what your muse is. I am always looking for new sources of inspiration and someone else may be looking to find a muse of their own.
