Adults Can Have Fun Too – Pinewood Derby Style

I loved being a Boy Scout. I learned so much and it has a lot to do with who I am as a person today. One of my fondest memories of coming up as a Cub Scout was the Pinewood Derby. Apparently I’m not the only one. I really don’t know the history of the Pinewood Derby, I should probably look that up, but I do know that it makes a mark on the lives of a lot of young people. Nature has a way letting those young people grow up, no matter how hard we fight. We all like to make a return to youth once in a while and over at the Make Magazine Blog they have apparently found someone who never left. Check out their entry about the adult Pinewood Derby Party. A home built track, BBQ and beer. Does it get much better? I know I would love a day of building and racing.

I know summer is coming to a close, but in most parts of the country we still have time to break out the coping saw and hack into some pine. Remember, growing old is required, growing up is optional.

Anyone have some Pinewood Derby memories of their own?
