I have heard it said that one does not need to be as creative to be a photographer as they do to create art of another medium. I say it’s an ugly lie perpetrated by those who need to find a way to discredit the work of others. One must be skilled both technically and creatively to make a good photographer. One area of creativity that some photographers enjoy more than the actual creating of images, is modifying of building cameras.
On of my favorite examples of such creativity are through the view finder cameras. These are cameras, or rigs for a camera, that take a photo through the view finder of another camera. The above example is a camera made by here, here and here.
I hope this inspires you to dig out your old cameras, or hit up a flea market or garage sale, and put the creative part of your brain into you equipment. You never know what you may find.
Do you have any camera creations of mods you want to share?? Or maybe know of some fun others have put together. Let me know and I will help you share them.
